This film is a hell of a lot better than its 55% on rotten tomatoes or 5.8 on imdb. It's slowburning, it takes its time with its themes and points.
It makes those points intelligently and trusts its audience to interpret the deeper meaning within the script.
Its about a lot more than a rapper giving up his career, the conversation gibbs charachter has in the car at the end about black people not owning land is poignant.
The cast are all on point, gibbs is fantastic and man's the wheel of this film brilliantly. All the charachters he encounters along the way are performed excellently.
It ends with an interesting metaphor one again delivered intelligently and cinematically satisfying.
4 and a half stars.
This was a truly well made, well performed and subtley gorgeous film.
