I watched the first episode and in all honesty it was pretty poor. They’ve totally re-written the tale of Robin Hood and unnecessarily modernised it. Robin Hood is now a pagan saxon fighting norman christians, this is a massive historical inaccuracy. Paganism had almost totally disappeared by the 11th century, and only would have survived in folklore. You would not have had anglo-saxon praying to fairies as it suggests in the show. The show is a reflection of the enormous bias and prejudice against christians by the elite in the modern west. Another thing that is incredibly grating is how the show refers to the English as Saxons. The kingdom of England had existed for over 100 years at this point; and even if some of the English referred to themselves as Saxons, the ones in Nottingham wouldn’t as they were Angles! Overall this is a very disappointing show, that I was actually quite looking forward to, hopefully these studios can do better in the future 1/10.
