This is easily the worst live action star wars show, the premise itself is interesting, but it didn't translate into a good story.
This show is rage-bait for the anti-woke crowd, but the same-sex affection and pronouns are blink and you miss it moments. I could also care less that most of the characters aren't white.
I can point out three different animated series with more believable characters than this show. In a good star wars show, the characters are authentically themselves, even with the plot armor in full effect their actions make sense and their struggles seem palpable and they develop over time.
This show went with the character-reveal approach, it starts with tropish characters, explains the event that set their story into motion, and then reveals details about that event as the season progresses. It isn't an inherently bad way to tell a story, but the characters behave in ways that don't make sense in order to move the plot forward. The wise, compassionate Jedi needs to kill the main character's mother to give this show the shock factor it needs at the end, so he becomes reckless and impulsive when the show calls for it.
The story itself is hard to digest, it already breaks canon by revealing the sith well before the events of the phantom menace and it introduces two force-born prodigies even though anakin was said to be the first. We're also supposed see the sith in a more sympathetic light at the end, they just want to exist in the universe as themselves without jedi persecution. Nevermind the fact that the same sith tried to murder the main character's sister for failing to kill the remaining jedi on their hit-list, or that he wouldn't have been on the radar at all if not for the killing spree.
I don't believe critics who say that disney is ruining star wars, sure they've made some duds, but they've also made some great shows. This show, however, is not one of them.
