This movie was a breath of fresh air. I have been a Batman fan all of my life and was very skeptical after "The Batman" was announced. (Even more so after I watched the trailer.) Not so much because of the cast members for me, but more because I have been disappointed with recent portrayals of him. But Robert Pattinson promised to deliver and man did he deliver.
Without diving too much into the plot, there were so many things that (as a Batman fan) made me very happy. They finally showed an in depth detective take on him. For the world's greatest detective, he didn't really get any of that on the big screen. But Matt Reeves showed him actually working the crime scenes. The BatComputer was the absolute highlight for me!
I have been dying to see a live action Batman who genuinely cares for the people of Gotham and Matt Reeves gave me that! The people of Gotham are supposed to feel protected by their Batman, Not live in fear of him. The Batman cares for people and you can clearly see it in how he reaches out to certain people and (towards the end) all the people.
His and Jim Gordon's relationship? They nailed it! It was wonderful to see them actually interact. Not having Batman just standing in the shadows, saying a few sentences, and then disappearing. Jeffrey Wright did a phenomenal job.
I was most excited to see Andy Serkis as Alfred, and he did not disappoint! So many little tidbits that made his portrayal outstanding. Unfortunately, he didn't get as much screen time as I was hoping for, but you can't have everything I guess.
In conclusion, everyone who worked on this movie did an amazing job. There is one specific scene that made me cry literal happy tears. It was so nice to get the Batman that I have been waiting for. If I got the chance to give a thank you hug to everyone involved in this project I would pounce on it. If you haven't seen it for fear of being disappointed, please go watch. Even if he turns out to not be your favorite Batman, you will still find it well worth your while!
P.S. Just so that you guys don't think I'm coming from a biased place, the only other Robert Pattinson portrayal I have seen was as Cedric Diggory in HP: The Goblet of Fire. So, before this movie, I didn't really have any /strong/ opinion of him.
