The nostalgia! The humor! The tears! Greta Gerwig did a fantastic job creating this world of Barbie with a twist! I heard Margot Robbie say to basically throw your expectations out the window, because the movie is not what it seems...she was so right! I'm confused by the people (especially women) who say this movie was not empowering? Gerwig navigates many stereotypes during the 2 hour span of this movie with lots of satire. In the words of Christy Lemaire from Roger Ebert, "Still, if such a crowd-pleasing extravaganza can also offer some fodder for thoughtful conversations afterward, it’s accomplished several goals simultaneously. It’s like sneaking spinach into your kid’s brownies—or, in this case, blondies."
