The show had all the makings of a fantastic production with compelling storylines. However, the narrator's accent significantly marred my enjoyment.
The narrator, who is from London, attempts to deliver a heavy Southern accent, which comes across as incredibly phony and unconvincing. It's not just a distraction; it's insulting to true Southern women who deserve better representation. The exaggerated drawl felt more like a caricature than a genuine attempt to embody the Southern spirit.
Instead of immersing viewers in the Southern charm, the forced and artificial accent pulled me out of the experience.
