The morons claiming this is 'misandrist' or 'men-bashing' are clearly out of touch with sexual assault victims and the reality of law enforcement. The statistic that approximately 40% of cops participate in domestic abuse is true - it was not made up for this show. It did not show men to be evil. The husbands of the detectives were shown to be extremely kind, understanding, rational, and supportive. If you personally felt attacked by this, you need to reflect on yourself rather than blame a show for highlighting the truth of who you really are.
As for the depiction of sexual assault, this show could not be any more accurate if it tried. The different reactions and coping mechanisms were displayed so well, and these differences are crucial in portraying sexual assault. Anyone who has spoken about sexual assault with a victim, or personally experienced it, will likely appreciate how true this is to real life. If you are worried about triggering your PTSD, I would warn that there are some episodes that show cutaways of rape.
Remember - this is based very accurately on the true stories of Marie Adler and the other victims, down to the q-tip swab in the police car.
