I remember the first time I saw this movie. It was the late 60s (or very early 70s), a band called Spirit had released an album entitled “The Twelve Dreams of Dr. Sardonicus,” and ever since then film and album reminded me of both.
The film involves a man who dug up his dead father to retrieve a lottery ticket, and the grave- robbing resulted in his face being frozen from fear in a most horrendous grin. After consulting a famous doctor, work begins to relax his facial muscles.
It is a tale of human greed and perfidious actions that ruin all around the victim, especially his wife.
Old school movie in something of the Hammer Films tradition. Worth the watch!
