The Kitchen comes across like a want to be edgy indie film but made with the budget and heart of a generic Netflix drop. “Near dystopian” added next to nothing to the plot beside some unnecessary gadgets on a mirror. Setting it in 2044 did not impact the script and might as well be London 2024 (we’re in a housing crisis with less affordable homes, let alone council accommodation), and was probably only used to draw in more sci fi leaning fans into a generic “human” story.

I want to like it... I hate it. It’s probably because I’m not into gaming... in which case the characters do not stand up on their own. If you’re not into gaming, this probably won’t be for you either

Melissa McCarthy is amazing, she’s incredible, but also hot and cold with her movie choices lately. Thunder force, I hated it so much (except Jason Bateman he weirdly nailed lobster hands). This was definitely one of the movies that makes me think she’s in the “star” category. She made that movie. Smithy? Eh I don’t think I’m his target audience (Americans who aren’t annoyed at him).

Absolutely phenomenal end of season episode. It’s a slow burn to start with but absolutely worth the pay off at the end

This is really good, Jennifer Anniston and Steve Carell are playing different characters than usual but still manage to bring their usual charm, despite at times having unlikeable characters. It adds an unusual depth, should you like them or not? Reese brings her A game all through out. I’m hooked.

Gosh I love Charlie Day (big IASIP fan), and the cast was incredible… but… It felt so odd and disjointed. Like a school kid writing a movie for homework. It’s not quite “there”? I think having the main character mute was a mistake, albeit the plot, it felt like watching a person try to be funny but they’ve been gagged. Or juggle with one hand behind their back. Having the movie about the hollywood film industry… it felt like there were in jokes and nods to things I had no clue about. I imagine Day has got another screen play in him, just perhaps not anything Hollywood related.

Glenn Howerton stole the show with his performance. Absolutely phenomenal. Watched this because I am a huge IASIP fan, and I was not disappointed. Rage acting, this man’s got it.
