I have watched it twice. It seems at first glance to be a light hearted documentary about a strip club in its heyday. If you watch with discerning eye, you may find what I found some heart felt depth.
It’s where kindred souls have met through fate, became one another’s family, and help one another lift one another up.
As with anything where very young people are concerned sometimes the coping mechanisms are fueled with drugs and alcohol. Then even the best of relationships and friendships become challenging. Some wouldn’t make it to tell their stories and reminiscence about the good ol’days in the Oklahoma oil boom of the 1970’s and 80’s.
If you have a chance I recommend highly that you try watching it. I think it’s just beautiful the love between mother and son. Their personalities are similar and when they laugh at the same things it’s a feel good movie. Sometimes life can be tiring, tragic, and to climb that mountain takes courage but this family has done it triumphantly with a laugh afterwards.
