I had an autographed copy of The Lords of Discipline years ago when the book became popular. As a native Charlestonian and very familiar with the Citadel, I knew that Carolina Military Institute was probably the Citadel. Since Conroy was banned from the Citadel campus for 20 years, the powers that be must have thought the same.
