A lot of interesting scientific, ecological and historical information give food for thought. However it is rather subverted by the enormous amount of left wing claptrap which the author pushes. He also loses no opportunity to push his very obvious prejudices against farmers, landowners, country sports and in fact anyone in the countryside who does not agree with his agenda. Shame, spoils a interesting book.
