Interesting begining when all the characters are young. It turns sour once they are adults and our hero, Noodles, rapes 2 women. Is that supposed to be acceptable behavior of the period? I think not. I could not get past the misogynistic slant and find any redeeming qualities. Clearly the female characters are unrealistic as they tolerate future contact with Noodles and even seem to have a heart for him in some way. Disgusting.
