WOW. I'm so impressed. This is at least as good as The Mandalorian - and The Mandalorian was excellent. Remember how Rogue One was such a breath of fresh air after every other Star Wars movie after the original trilogy failed to live up to expectations? Only Rogue One succeeded in meeting - and I think exceeded - expectations. Andor sprang from the Rogue One lore and interestingly has also exceeded expectations.
Unlike The Mandalorian, however, which was a a cute story with cute characters appealed to both adults and children alike, Andor is an adult storyline. If you're looking for entertainment to sit down and watch with your young children, this is probably not it. Not because of an overabundance of violence or sexuality (these things are in line with the rest of the Star Wars universe here), but because the depth of the plot and dialog are likely to go over the heads of young children. We don't see enough of "Bee," the adorable droid assistant of Cassian's Stepmother. I suspect though, after the ending of episode 7, we are going to be introduced to Rogue One's hilarious and heroic droid K2SO, albeit before he was reprogrammed from his imperial role. Unlike other Star Wars entries, Andor is completely devoid of comedy. I love humor, and comedy is my favorite genre. The lack of comedy in the Andor series does not detract from the series for me.
The best part of Andor, however, is the show's attention to detail. The sets are absolutely stunning. The portrayal of normal life outside of battles and hyper-speed flight in this show is impressive. The Star Wars movies give us glimpses. Andor gives us a magnifying glass to view the lives of its characters, both rebel and imperial. The music is very well done. Yet the writing in Andor is not outdone by the eye-catching sets. The dialog is sharp and thought provoking. It keeps me eager to see what's coming next, as Andor is indeed, as others have said, slow to unfold its characters and plot. But it never *feels* slow.
Another superb Star Wars entry that, like its Rogue One roots, is totally flying under the radar.
