Sadly a typical Bollywood film with the usual melodrama and overacting. The court scenes were unrealistic and sensational. And as usual, Mr Bachchan plays an over the top character, who behaves inexplicably and unnecessarily creepy in the early part of the film - why on earth was he staring at the girls' flat from across the street? His physical appearance, especially the bad hair and make-up confirm the lack of realism of his character (he looked like a caricature, not dissimilar to the ridiculous disguises that employers use in Undercover Boss). And what problem is he suffering from? In the film, the girls find references about a "mental condition" from the internet, but what is this mental condition? It doesn't fit anything I am aware of. If he's retired, how does he defend them in court? And of course, there's the tear jerking side story of his sick wife. I don't know how or what it adds to the story.
I think it's important that the double standards that plague Indian society are questioned and brought to the forefront, and one can only hope that positive changes will occur. I would like to believe that this film has contributed but sadly I fear it does little.
