The murderous Old West, the psychotic New West and the West as invented by Hollywood all merge in a Tarantino quantum world of Hollywood reborn. DiCaprio's Rick Dalton is an aging action star who made his name in a black and white TV western but now faces the typical Hollywood fade-out. Woven into this eye candy homage to the glorious 60's SoCal lifestyle is the Manson Family's search and destroy mission in the Hollywood Hills. Thankfully, we see another possibility which I won't spoil here. Brad's Pitt character Cliff Booth is Rick Dalton's comedic foil but with a hint of danger in his Green Beret background and loyal pitbull Brandy. Finally, Margot Robbie's Sharon Tate is a joy. She's eye candy and smiles and is lovingly portrayed. The ending of the movie is the whole purpose of the movie: the alternate ending to the real horrible end of the decade.
