After reading loads of negative reviews directed mostly on how it is a character diversion of the OG buzz lightyear in the toy story franchise and the "unnecessary representation of lgbt" in the movie, I decided to give it a watch and decide for myself.
The movie is all things sci-fi, action and adventurous with a considerable amount of light humor and emotional aspects. The plot is not dull at all, it has space fights like cool chasing scenes, hyper speeding etc. Also the lgbt representation is JUST for 30 seconds. I really don't know why it's such a fuss for people over here calling that out. I have read almost 30 comments on this topic that how "unnecessary" it was to give "30 seconds" worth of representation to the lgbt community, I guess the people who are disregarding this amazing serious sci-fi movie with light humor on the basis of "unnecessary lgbt representation" are clearly a bunch of homophobes and a PROBLEM to the society. Movies and tv series etc should be a medium for fair representation. Also its not like they pitched the entire movie on commander alisha and her lesbian lover...absolutely not they just had a 30 seconds scene in the entire movie.
Now coming to the character diversion, this is exactly what i personally expected from buzz lightyear's standalone movie. I wanted to know his origin story, his struggles, and how he became who he is. And the movie surely delivered. Although i might say that Chris Evans voice was alright but could have been better. Other than this I have NO complaints from the movie. Do give it a watch. And please don't disregard an entire movie on the basis of a negligible amount of lgbt representation. Seriously what the hell is wrong with people these days.
