Being a fan of the Broadway musical, I came into the theater with high expectations. And I was let down really quick. My main problem is the human cat hybrids that the movie chose to go with. They’re the stuff of nightmares! When I saw famous actor’s faces slapped onto bipedal cats, I wanted to leave the theater for that reason alone. The camera angles felt wrong & it got really awkward at times as well. This movie dives DEEP into the uncanny valley, and I’m not okay with it. Also, they chose to release this film on the same day is a little film called Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Are you crazy!? It’s obvious on which film is going to have more people see it. Now don’t get me wrong. There is some things I like about this film. The choreography is very well done, and it was very amusing to watch at times. By set design standards, this film is astounding. The neon signs and goldish hue give it a retro look that I’m a big fan of. The songs were good too, and the vocals were incredible. But overall, I feel like the uncanny valley cats ruin the film for me, and I wouldn’t recommend seeing it, unless you have an extreme tolerance for Taylor Swift - cat hybrids.

I absolutely adore this movie. The set design is what I admire the most. Halloween Town is such a creepy yet cartoonish world, and the characters are so unique. The moral is great as well, to always do what you do best. Believe it or not, it’s hard to spot many flaws. But sadly, it does have a few. Certain parts can get boring, and there are a few plot holes. But overall, the movie was phenomenal. I would definitely recommend this film to you. Although kids under the age of 7, may find some parts slightly disturbing. FINAL RATING: 9.3/10

Beetlejuice is spectacularly weird. It has a very quirky style that I absolutely love. And Michael Keaton casted as the perverted, wise-cracking ghost is spot on. I’d argue that it’s his best role. Winona Ryder as the goth girl Lydia also exceeded my expectations. Despite me adoring this movie, it’s not flawless. Some special effects use stop motion which looks pretty outdated. Also, there are some scenes that feel out of place. When Lydia (SPOILERS) contemplates suicide it feels like a completely different movie, not the creepy comedy we all know. But despite its flaws, it was still a very memorable movie. In fact, it’s my favorite of all time. 8/10 - Would Recommend
