I've wanted to watch this movie for so long. It was already old before I heard of it. I wasn't really sure what it was about, but had always heard it was one of the greats from Hollywood's Golden Era. This is a movie the way movies used to be-sad and happy with heartbreak and hope, characters with principles, and actors so good they don't have to have a bedroom scene for you to know they're in love. A woman made bitter by a domineering mother, a family who labels her the odd unmarriageable aunt, a kind and decent man committed to an unhappy marriage, and a damaged child whose cold, distant mother makes her feel unlovable and unwanted. All destined to find each other. Love brings them together--perhaps not in a perfect way, but in a way that you know will be right for them all, and maybe- yes, maybe someday-even perfectl
