Horrible. I did not enjoy this film at all. I just wanted it to end but stayed so I wouldn't have to ask anyone how it ended. The movie felt like the kids from Stand By Me had grown up and they walked and talked not on train tracks but through America's heartland.
I was so bored with the talking and the consistent mumbling as though a speech therapist was needed on set. The sadness and bleakness of a dystopian future set in the future but reminded me of the 1960s, was nowhere close to the drama and rawness of Hunger Games.
I did not bond with any of the characters and I didn't really care who won the race, or their reasons, but I only stayed because I still had popcorn in the bucket.
I give this movie a generous 2-stars and because I felt no connection to the mumbling, stumbling characters, I don't even want to read the book. I'm going to watch Hunger Games again. At least I could understand what they were saying.
