Vijay has done what you'd expect from him. All others have just occupied space. Too much emphasis on the theatrics and special effects that the story has been diluted. This GOAT is Good Only At Times, DEFINITELY not the Greatest of All Time.

It's not as pathbreaking as part 1, but definitely a very watchable movie. The general problem with sequels is people have already seen what part one revealed about the characters, so there is not much expectation. What Sankar could have done is to give the story a deeper cause and focus. Kamal as usual dazzles you with his sheer presence. Siddharth was great. A thoroughly watchable film, which could been great with a tighter storyline. But perhaps it was designed to be so, and part 3 might bring more clarity. I will watch it again.

The story is a carbon copy of Vikram, but the director has tried to present it differently with Rajini. The only difference is Viram was a multi-starrer and all the lead actors had almost equal screen-time and meaty roles. In Jailer, Mohanlal and Shivraj Kumar don't have much to do except walk about with cigars. Rajini himself has been reduced to look like a supporting character. If you asked me, the hero of Jailer is Vinayakan. If not for him, the already flaccid role of Rajini would have been reduced to nothing. As far as Rajini, he has tried very hard to bring his suave and swag, but you can see it's a 73-year old man trying to do what at 33-year old does. His age and his struggle to portray a youthful person is very evident in the flashback scenes as a jailer. Talking about that, I wonder why this movie was called Jailer when that part of his life was only featured for maybe 6 minutes. Overall, Jailer is a slightly better offering than Annathae and Darbar, but definitely NOT a great show. I watched it in the cinema, but could have waited for the OTT release.

MOVIES LIKE THIS REMIND PEOPLE WHAT THEY ARE TRYING TO FORGET. THE ONE STAR IS FOR FAFA AND VADIVELU. AS A MOVIE IT DOESN'T OFFER ANYTHING POSITIVE TO THE AUDIENCE.

The movie starts of well and the whole Prakash Raj portion was good. One thing was predictable. The moment Vishal and Arya separate as teens, it was anyone's guess that at some point they were going to face off as enemies. The title of the movie was a great clue. Some portions were filmed in Singapore but a lot of portions shown as Singapore appear to be really Bangkok or Dubai. The area where the Cholan grocery is located does not exist in Singapore to my knowledge. Overall the movie was well taken but a poor screenplay and the absence of suspense made it a below average affair.
