Heartbreaking movie. The actors all did an amazing job. At first I was annoyed with the blatant fatphobic comments and racist comments but gradually the character development, the depth and strength of their bonds changed my mind.
I cried throughout the second part even though I had already seen the spoilers.
I understand why people don't like it much, it shows the reality of Indian society, and those greedy bastards get offended when called out like this. To think that they are the ones trolling on Instagram, bragging about their religion when they can't even understand the meaning of marriage.
I read some comments saying that this is 'old' mentality. Clearly they have never been to rural areas. My family is based in a village and I have SEEN and HEARD all sorts of things people say about girls, judging them on their appearance, asking for dowry, and demeaning their family status.
Not only in my state, I have seen this in several parts of the country. So kindly get out of your bubble.
