A horrible, horrible movie which glorifies a dynasty of foreign foreign invaders and shows native resistance of "typical"villain... I didn't realize what the message of this movie was as a kid but now that I look at the plot again its very obviously pro-imperialist. Akbar is shown as a hero, when he was infact a villian in a long dynasty of villains. Modern scholars have discovered Akbar was a sexual deviant who has raped many young girls who he forced into his harem. He is shown as a just king for abolishing jizya and tolerating other faiths but all he did was the bare minimum expected from a king, nothing to praise him for. The plot itself is fictional as there is no credible evidence that this Jodhaa concubine of his had any romantic feelings for such a tyrant as Akbar. This movie is a sign that Indians have Stockholm syndrome about Mughal Empire and that is not good.
