This is not a material that I want to watch personally on the big screen but I will support it because they're using the platform of a movie to highlight this massive abuse of power.
2019 had come and gone but some of the movies from yesteryear have yet to come to our shore, with this aforementioned film and 1917 as a couple of examples. The feature itself is solidly made to cover the whole 'scandal' from top to bottom but the main reason I bought the ticket is because of all the buzz surrounding the performances of the actresses, especially Charlize Theron.
Wait, was she in it? I thought that was really Megyn Kelly and couldn't catch a glimpse of the actress at all! I want to highlight her ability to go through a complete transformation just like that. The other supporting actors have their own moments as well, with Margot Robbie's breakdown outside the restaurant a definite scene to remember. Watch it for performance, I implore you.
Oh, there will be a lot of names and characters that would be thrown around throughout and while a passing knowledge of the American political media scene would be tremendously helpful, I think it's not essential because they're there to portray Ailes' influence over his workers and how the controversy affect each of them differently. It was told adeptly but I understand if you feel a bit out of sorts with all the names to keep tab on.
I'm just really hoping that Charlize would at least be recognized for her achievement in this movie. At least something good would come out of this.
