Hmm, so what is this creature? A duck with fins or a cat with wings? Itโs neither fowl nor fish. Iโm not sure quite what I watched. Things were definitely filmed in a beautiful location and there were some very, very nice actors. There was some good cross cultural idiom one-upmanshiping going on, in fact there were funny (haha) things but also some funny (peculiar) things too. Plot, why so many holes I wonder but at least the continuity guy found his dog. There were slow and lingering close ups of faces showing exquisitely mastered flickers, flashes and ebbings and flowings of emotion, which would then fly out to slapstick/subtle/bright and smart humor. My emotions had to work hard to keep up with the movie.
I left feeling quite content, it looked good and made me feel good but my brain was a bit fuddled. I think the elderly gentleman whom I overheard on the way out of the cinema hit the nail on the head/put his finger on it when he said โWell itโs not often you go to an Indie film that makes you happy is itโ.
