Spoilers!
Edited to say, I just found put it's a trilogy so the end might get explained later, but even so, it's very watery and I won't be reading any more.
Three stars because of the ending.
It starts well, a fast paced page turner but the Essex Dogs never really have a story of their own. There was nothing to make me care if they lived or died. Things happen to the group but those events were swallowed by the main events. Maybe that's how it was meant to be written, the chaos of war.
At the end I felt we were missing a couple of chapters. The captain, alluded to but never explained and the end comments were insane. The woman, who/what. She seemed almost a dream, how did she do what she did? Was she real?? Did they get paid, did they get home, what was Milestones status? Good fruity insults but in the way of Blackadder. This book is going straight to the charity shop.
