The author try to make the caracthers look alive by having them think and speack like cheap today intellectuals,forgetting that the Rinascimento had been possible and unique because the artists believed in universal knowledge and for them to have knowledge of painting,sculpture,architecture,mathematic,geometry and literature was normal and almost any of them wrote books and treaties about their special knowledge. Historically not very accurate...the famous phrase "the work is hidden in the marble ,etc.... " was said by Michelangelo,not Donatello. The carachters of this great and unique art period are shallow and not credible.
