5 star show if you’re into sci-fi / psychological thrillers.
For once .. we have a film where the heroes act human. Where the scales of power are tested and shown from the different degrees that the very word carries and In every filthy, and admirable way possible. This show simply keeps you on the edge. In the most head popping way possible ;) !
I wasn’t one who had known about this series and the characters prior to the real life adaptation of its comic. So this review is bluntly what I felt and observed while watching a seemingly random show on prime from 2019-2022 . I must say , The pure creativity and detail of each scene shows how in touch with reality the writers really are . They seem to be updated with psychology and current day issues and trends . At every point during every season , there is a connection between real life and the story in some way. Not a single instance seems to be exaggerated in reaction or lore when it comes to the past 3 seasons. Why is this interesting amd exceltional?? Because this is the most realistic version of what people with raw physical power would do, and how the world and individuals would act. For a superhero film/ series .. this is definitely the rawest showing of What could be in a world like theirs. There’s an underlying story to the story if that makes sense . I would almost call the boys an allegory.
This show NAILED , what today’s society would be like with certain people with more or less immense power compared to the rest of us (I think of the rich elites). “The boys” highlighted the moral struggle that comes with power while serving as an allegory of sorts with direct comparisons being made between trump and homelander or with A-train and current black celebrities . There are many examples . The show is definitely an action packed , drama that borders on psychological thriller and it keeps you on the edge of your seat. There’s messages with layers and This show has a ton of depth for a concept that is surface level. This was Perfectly executed . Even the actors nail every damn emotion so well. Kudos to the directors! 5 stars from this guy.
