Fun, scary, creepy, exciting, visceral, starkly beautiful and thought provoking at times— just what you want and hope it will be. David Jonsson is a subtly genius actor, and the rest of the cast is good, too. And Ridley Scott does everything he does best. Highly recommend.

This is a sketch of a book to me, not fully-developed. Combines varying types of storylines we have seen before from King and others— child sees dead people, coming of age/adolescence, possession by an amorphous evil, etc— but without developing anything new or interesting. The “evil” is just an idea, really, nothing fleshed out. Disappointing.

First half of the movie not totally terrible. Second half totally terrible. Clichéd, unimaginative, poorly acted, nonsensical. I’m disgusted with myself for watching this movie. I wish “-7 stars was an option.”
