Before yall come at me I’ve read the comics, seen the movies, and nearly played all of the mk games, from Mk: Mythologies to sholin monks to all the 3D era games too, trust me I’m all caught up on the lore. I’m mainly just here to rant about their story options, the gameplay has definitely been updated and is honestly some fun to play. -SPOILERS- 1. The rivalry between SubZero and Scorpion is definitely something new but it’s feels kind of botched…I’ve tried liking the kuai liang change as scorpion but it just doesn’t hit the same. It was really cool seeing Bi Han as the SubZero again but he’s just such an idiot now omg😭. I also don’t like Sektors changes personality wise, they are kind of trying to force their whole relationship on us which feels sooo off weird knowing that’s not how Sektor is. If this were past Sektor he would’ve taken the Lin Kuei from Bi Han if he had the chance, but instead she’s kind of meat riding him in a way…..def a big change. 2. Everyone else honestly. Seems like everyone just got nerfed to oblivion. Shao used to be the biggest threat back in the old games and now he’s just all yap. We get characters back like Li Mei, Reiko, Ashrah, etc and they literally only win if it’s convenient to the story. Shang and Quan Chi are literally nerfed versions of the deadly alliance and their boss fight is def the worst in the series, very easy and lack luster. And ik Luí Kang said he had to nerfed certain characters who would be a threat in this new time line but there are def different ways to so. Some characters potentials feel so wasted. Would have been great to see a villain like Omaga back but we still have to wait and see. 3. Story telling is mediocre. A lot of parts feel rushed and just out of place. We finally get to see Havik as a big bad and they still managed to fumble that too. I feel there are no stakes at risk in this new story which makes it less interesting. It’s like everyone is a good guy now idk how to explain it. During the final fight they had to fight Titan havik and other TITANS btw and havik just went down w no fight. Havik of all people, a man who quite literally can’t die. And TITANS, when I first saw the idea of a titan I thought they would be undefeatable. Yk since they are what control that timeline. Seems like they are just the goons in this one. And all this talk about komidogus and Shujinko was no where to be seen when he was literally the main character in Deception. This can go on but…I really miss when mk had its own style to it. It was known for its gore and edgy style, but ever since midway left the team its like they are trying to actually take the story seriously? No matter how many times they reboot it the story is just going to get worse. Mk1 is def turning into a cash grab, but I don’t even want to go into that. I will NEVER forgive them for adding a teenager in a costume and knife. They are just money hungry now and don’t respect the fans anymore.
