Persuasion to this day is the one Jane Austen book that brought heartfelt tears to my eyes. This adaptation was a beautiful and relatable ode to Jane Austen's writing. A movie could never portray what we see and feel through our own imaginative reading of the subject's book, but this version certainly showed me the Anne I had envisioned: A young woman accustomed to living in the darkness of deep regret and heartbreak. I loved the book and I loved this 2022 adaptation. I'm happier still that the movie will bring this bittersweet story to many who haven't yet gotten to reading it.
