For all the people having a dig at this film the concept clearly went over your heads. This film portrays the blind belief that people have in things like television and media also throwing in religion, and how we blindly follow whatever we are exposed to without forming our own opinions. These things are regulated, controlling what you are exposed too, spoon feeding us ideas. This is shown at the start of the film with the news report as they are fed the idea of a terrorist attack each jumping to their own conclusions with specifically Kate showing her prejudice beliefs. It is also shown when the family especially the father listen and obey whatever the TV says without questioning it causing them to be manipulated by the system. This can be seen as a direct parallel to a lot of mainstream media. The execution of this film is sometimes sloppy but people are missing a lot of key details, such as why the aliens didn't just kill them straight away as it is a parasite and would have planned to make them all "worship" it and would have been against the point of the parasite to just kill them if it didn't need too, as he would have been trying to host them (this was clearly pointed out as he literally said it was a parasite, but people are obviously a bit brain dead). I am not even legally an adult thats why this might not have been articulated in the best way but at least I am able to pick up on a concept that is really quite obvious that unfortunately so many people missed.
