I’m a relatively young person who is a cinephile (I’m currently 21 as of this comment I’m typing), I love movies. I thought Rear Window was an excellent film. Ignore Jeremy’s review, he says the movie is boring because it takes place in one location. I disagree, this film is a masterclass of tension and suspense, and Hitchcock was the master. Rear Window is often considered one of the best films ever made and one of Alfred Hitchcock’s greatest movies. And there’s a good reason for that, it’s well-acted, the characters are well-written, it’s well-directed, the cinematography is unique and brilliantly done, and the film is very suspenseful. Also, he says that most movie set in only one location get boring fast. Ahem, have you ever watched 12 Angry Men? That’s an incredible movie set in only one main location, but it had brilliant acting, writing, directing, and an interesting story. Which I also thought was the case for this movie. How anyone can find this movie boring is beyond my comprehension. I don’t think the film is underwhelming in any aspect, did we see the same movie? This is absolutely a five star film, anyone rating it one or two stars probably wants a story with a bunch of action and explosions with no story development. It’s quite sad that a lot of young people today have nearly nonexistent attention spans and find a lot of the older classics boring because they don’t have superheroes or CGI characters battling each other every five minutes. Whoever gives this movie a bad rating should stick to modern blockbuster films only. Some people aren’t able to process buildup or suspense because they are too busy watching movies that rely on cheap tactics instead of subtle buildup. I give this movie a 5/5. It’s a suspense masterpiece from one of the greatest and widely respected directors in the world of cinema.
