We need more media representing NOT rich Asians. The ones getting by, they are out there and they should not feel invisible.
This movie was so relatable, really brought me back to early 2000s, before smart phones, xanga pre-myspace time, and the soundtrack reflected that which was amazing. The church scene made me miss the fellowship I had growing up even if I am not a practicing Christian anymore. The family dynamic felt exactly like my own.
Steven Yeun's work, this and Minari, are putting poor low income asian american people on the map, and this means a lot to those that are so dedicated to live up to cultural/parents' / "american dream" standards but constannnnntly feel alone and invisible.
I love that this was not about race/identity though. It's a funny, drama, touching, slightly dark and depressing story that reflects a lot of real life concepts. Can't wait for next seasons!
