I’m not usually a fan of movies about wars, but this was brilliantly gruelling and gruesome. Everything from the colouring, lighting and costume design was artfully beautiful and very well executed. This was a stark representation of the brutality of the WW1. It’s crazy how desensitised most of the soldiers must have been. The music was so good at keeping in with the theme of what was being portrayed. The acting was phenomenal, especially the prized portrayal of Paul, Kat and Stanislaus. I loved the juxtapositions of the warfront and life; these were disgustingly complex but also makes you realise just how inhuman it must’ve been. Honestly, a great film, but definitely a one time watch for me!
