I recently read this book in my book club at school and i really enjoyed it. I don’t usually like dystopian type books but this one i liked. I liked the way that the writer portrayed the two characters. If i had to chose my favorite character it would have to be June. Her background of her parents death and education really brought out her character and personality. I also enjoyed the two different parties. The republic and colonies really made the story come together. The republic shows the corruption with the government and how sneaking it can be. Also shows how propaganda effects people’s views. June was from the republic meanwhile Day is from the colonies. I think having two different backgrounds makes the story more interesting. My favorite part of this book was the plague. The plague reminds me of covid and the pandemic. There are a lot of conspiracy theories about covid and it the story portrays some of it as well. I made some life connections to june and this story. I really loved reading this book and i look forward to reading more in the series.
