Another brilliant novel by Ishiguro. A perfect example of unreliable narration making you second guess everything in the story and think harder for yourself. It is set in post second world war Japan and narrated by a retired artist recalling the time before and during the war when he built a successful career making propaganda art for the government. The government has now changed and the war is over and so are his career and life. A fascinating study of pride, guilt and ageing, full of wonderful insights on the purpose and meaning of art.
