I will do a longer review another time, but for a brief write-up, I enjoyed it a great deal. I love the original and it is what it is. The things it leaves unknown gain it a great deal of respect. It is a noir, a tragedy, a drama with loss and sadness, and deep sorrow. There is not another anime of its genre that tells its story better or leaves one with the same sadness and pain and feeling of honesty, grit, and loss. Not a better one in the world.
What I love about the Netflix take is they way it is true to the original in so many wonderful ways, still leaves the characters having experienced the hard things from the anime and yet allows all the major characters able to tell more stories, allows the door to stay open for continuation, and entertains well while allowing the spectator to laugh and to learn more about the background and secrets of what went on, without simply killing the spectator with absolute sorrow.
