It is awful. Nevermind the little inaccuracies. This movie made a big swing and missed. There is no way that over 400 books and countless other publications has been written about the person portrayed in this movie. The problem with making movies about Napoleon is that his life is so event filled that it’s impossible to film his whole life in one sitting without skipping major events that need to be told. He said nothing inspiring in this movies. They left out his incredible work ethic. They left out his tactical brilliance. They left out or relegated important people in his to minor characters. Talleyrand for example. No marshals were mentioned. Not one. Junot is the only comrade that is even mentioned. This film didn’t do one the most important people to never be born no justice. If you love the Napoleonic era you will be very disappointed. It’s that bad. I’m all for escapism and not petty fogging a movie to death but this is inescapable. It is terrible. They made a movie based on British and Allied propaganda. They make a few historical references that are accurate but no story. So if you don’t know then you are out of luck because there is no explanation given. The dialogue is terrible. Just a bad attempt at movie making.
