This was an exceptional show.
I did not realise until I watched this series, how little I knew of the mad king, George iii. I thought he was just some lunatic who pestered people. In fact he was a person with mental problems that can be treated today.
In the movie, King George iii, played brilliantly by Corey Myltheest, was savagely mistreated by his doctor. His saving grace was his wife, Queen Charlotte. A strong performance for this role was played by India Amarteifio as the young Queen and Golda Rosheuvel as the older Queen.
Further strong performances were put in by Michelle Fairley, as the King's mother and Adjoa Andoh as Lady Agatha Danbury.
This is a classical romance between King George iii and Queen Charlotte that lasted over 50 years.
Social issues are tastefully covered also. Queen Charlotte was bi-racial in real life as well as in the movie. Also, a gay romantic relationship is displayed with warmth.
I will definitely watch a second series and strongly recommend viewers watch this series. It is a true story with fiction added to it.
