I recently watched the Barbie movie, and I must say it left me quite disappointed. While I appreciate the attempt to empower women, the execution seemed to go overboard and ended up portraying men in a rather negative light. Barbie's treatment of Ken was particularly unsettling, as it bordered on manipulative and was far from the positive example I expected from a family-oriented movie.
I had hoped the storyline would lead to a more balanced and equal society, but instead, it leaned heavily towards a "women power" narrative that, in my opinion, was more annoying than empowering. It's disheartening to see a film with such potential take a turn towards what feels like unnecessary gender dynamics.
I'm genuinely puzzled by the positive ratings this movie has received, as I found it to be quite the opposite. The narrative lacked substance and failed to impart any meaningful lessons. It's not a film I would recommend to others, as it seemed to lack the ability to teach anything genuinely positive.
