Excellent read for young readers of age 10 and above. This is the story of a young boy in southern Sudan traversing the war ravaged country , understanding the harsh truths of life and gaining beautiful insights. He then spent his balance life in internal atonement , salvation and redemption. Gripping till the end heart breaking and sentimental.

The story is an easy read providing a sense of nostalgia of southern Kerala and creating an utopia which is 'Parambil'. The story then goes on to speak about 3 generations with a common dilemma which is 'big ammachi' calls the condition. The story line is well researched keeping the sensitivities of the time,place and people. The characters are created with the emotional touch and the tragedies sudden. Even though the covenant which the author tried to create with water looked a little forced to arrive at an ending, I will give an overall thumps up to this emotional rollercoaster.

This book from the author has a raw writing style. The one story that stood out and stayed in my mind is the second one. It had the most unexpected twist.

The Prophet by Kahilil Gibran is a master piece written a century before with profound visions on the philosophy of life. The poem "Childern" is a must read for every parent and child which I find still relevant and the message it delivers is timeless. "Your children are not your children. They are the sons and daughters of Life longing for itself They come through you,but not from you. And though they are with you, Yet they belong not to you" This book is filled with life's vision, philosophy, profound wisdom, meanings and explanation. The Prophet is a timeless work that transcends the boundaries of philosophy and spirituality, offering profound insights into life, love, and the human experience with eloquent wisdom and universal truths.
