This movie was fantastic! The characters were so relatable and richly developed, and the humor was nuanced and unforced. This was a realistic portrayal of such a ragtag group of women, bound only by their tie to a random waitressing job in what seems like another lifetime ago for them all.
I truly don’t understand the low reviews for this film. I have watched it about four times now (over a 2-year period). And I never tire of it! It’s just as funny on each go ‘round as it was from the beginning. Every actress played her role to precision, and I truly consider this one of the best films on Netflix!
I think people who don’t enjoy this film are probably expecting it to be the kind of crude humor and raunch fest that typically embodies white ensemble comedies. This was refreshingly different — and didn’t need to resort to low-brow jokes and over-the-top situations to tell its story. Bravo to Amy Poehler and the entire cast for a superbly done film!
