NO EXIT IS A 2022 MOVIE. GRADE: A-. I think #Hulu has given us a cult classic for a change. This is truly one of the top three horror movies I have seen this year. Say what you will about the genre. Many of you will roll your eyes, but when you have time to write a great script...this is what you can come up with. It harkens back to a #TwilightZone episode I saw a few times about people being caught in a snow storm holed up in a cabin...remember? For #RodSerling, the answer was find the "space alien" among them. This is not as silly as that, although there are the requisite flaws that come with most horror flicks. I have NEVER seen a "weapon" that gives our heroine a "bump" to get her over the hump like this one! #streamingbanter.

UNDER PARIS IS A NEW MOVIE. GRADE: B. It's NOT Amity, but it's not bad. In the first killer shark movie #Jaws (1975) I was front and center in the theater on Aug. 10, 1975. I'm delighted that I was able to see #UnderParis on #Netflix on this, the first day it dropped on streaming. It's a French import dubbed in English, but that doesn't slow it down. Ooo la we...plenty of shark terror in this one too which is set in the Seine River in Paris. In the 1975 classic, the shark was seen for a grand total of FOUR minutes...not much difference this time. Under Paris could spawn more spinoffs, just like the original, but don't get in the water expecting another motion picture classic! #streamingbanter.

TOO OLD TO DIE YOUNG IS A 10-PART SERIES FROM 2019. Aw, Hell no! Please, someone watch just the first 15 minutes of #TooOldtoDieYoung on #PrimeVideo and tell me if this is just a gag. Is the entire series done in whispers? The first half-hour was, and worst of all each episode was an unwieldy 90-minutes. Who does that? "Acclaimed" director #NicholasWindingRefn...that's who! There are actually positive reviews for this turd, so I will assume that it can only get better. If it does, let me know. #streamingbanter

10 X 10 IS A 2018 MOVIE. GRADE: B. Who's zoomin' who? My friend used to say that. In the 2018 film #10X10 on #PrimeVideo you may ask that question a time or two. In the long run, the story unravels in a way that I don't think I've ever seen before. Before #KellyReilly became #BethDutton she played a "helpless" female who gets kidnapped by a man and locked in a dungeon for what appears to be an unknown reason. You'll soon find out why, and what happens in the movie's future is worth sticking around for...my preposition is dangling, and you might be too during this. #streamingbanter.

APOCALYPSE NOW IS A 1979 CLASSIC MOVIE: GRADE: A. #FrancisFordCoppola...you rock! Here's what I did. I have seen about every war movie imaginable, so I googled 20 top war movies of all time. #ApocalypseNow came up #1. Opinions will differ on that, but the 1979 film about the Vietnam war is now featuring a nearly 200-minute director's cut on #PrimeVideo. If you haven't seen it in a long time, take the rest of this Memorial weekend (it seems like it will take that long) and let this amazing experience wash over you, even if you were too young for Nam. The crazy thing is, you can't even say that it's Coppola's best He is currently finishing up #Megalopolis scheduled for release late this year. Suffice to say, #ApocalypseNow is much more entertaining than I remembered. #streamingbanter.

THE MESSENGER WAS A 2009 MOVIE. GRADE: B+. The darkest example of what this weekend is about. It wouldn't hurt to be in some kind of mood if you decide to watch or re-watch this film. #TheMessenger as seen on #Peacock for no extra charge is about two soldiers who have the unenviable task of going to homes and telling the next of kin (NOK) that their child has died in combat. Somebody's gotta do it. Really? This impossible task is undertaken by #BenFoster (who was at his best) and #WoodyHarrelson (ditto). They are supported by an amazing cast, BTW. Maybe it's a movie that should be seen with scotch. I don't know, but even someone who does this sort of thing all of the time is moved. #streamingbanter.

IN GOOD HANDS IS A 2022 MOVIE. GRADE: C-. This Turkish import is just that. #InGoodHands is a film from Turkey dubbed in English that just dropped on #Netflix Thursday. The premise is more of a stretch than the super hero Plastic Man. Do we believe that a woman diagnosed with terminal cancer and given 5 months to live is going to seek out an impossible candidate to be a dad to her 6-year old son whose dad ALREADY died when she croaks? Somehow, I think she waited too long. This Netflix movie is for the birds. Worst of all, her and the kid's relationship is held together by (are you ready for this?) TOILET PAPER! We return to more interesting video pursuits. #streamingbanter.

LAST FLAG FLYING IS A 2017 MOVIE. GRADE: A-. Spend some time this weekend reflecting on those who served. A great movie about veterans in the last decade is #LastFlagFlying now playing on #AmazonPrime. Please find a couple of hours to absorb it (again, or for the first time) this Memorial Day Weekend as I have just done. It is billed as a comedy/drama because of the frequent sarcastic jabs delivered by agnostic veteran of Vietnam #BryanCranston. Trust and believe...you will feel the emotional scares of #SteveCarell who steals the film as he and Cranston, along with #LaurenceFishburne return Steve's dead son back to be buried at home instead of Arlington. Last Flag Flying needs to be seen this weekend. It's even based on a true story! #streamingbanter.

FERRARI IS A 2023 MOVIE. GRADE: C. It's a damn good thing your cars weren't this slow, Enzo. I am sure that auto racing enthusiasts will love this film. There is a lot of inside garbage in it. I do feel that if octogenarian director #MichaelMann could have applied the brakes when #FordvFerrari hit the big screen a few years earlier...he would have. It's about a time in the life when Enzo (the man himself) was having a mid-life crisis over the death of his son and his troubled Italian marriage. He prepares for a mammoth 1000 mile race and we are locked into two hours of his personal drama. I, for one, could care less about #Ferrrari that just dropped on #HULU...although I thought it was a stroke of genius to hire #AdamDriver for the key roll! #streamingbanter.

SECURITY IS A NEW MOVIE. GRADE: B. #AntonioBanderas...you look mahvelous! If Banderas and #SirBenKingsley (age 80) can take time out of their busy schedules to make this you sure as hell can take 2-hours out of yours to see it. Antonio plays a former US soldier (which will come in mighty handy, later) who will take any job at this point to get back to his wife and daughter. Sir Ben is the head of a gang entreated to kill an 11-year old future witness to a gangland killing of her crooked accountant dad. The motley crew locks themselves in a mall and all hell breaks loose. It is a top film of its genre. Who needs #GerardButler? #streamingbanter.
