Utter garbage. Are we meant to feel sorry for the lead character, who has the most ridiculous walk by the way, after he murders a mother and father in cold blood in front of their kids? They posed no threat to him , it was savage. Oh and he had just become a father himself! How does having a hard upbringing (like millions of people do) justifiy killing someone. Oh and of course he blames it on slavery.."We learnt to survive, but not to live." Was this character a slave? Was his father? His Grandfather.....NO! This is just excusing the chronic problem of black on black violence and babies being born to fathers who end up in prison over stupid crimes leaving the mother and the state to look after another child in poverty. Then he goes up and does the same thing. It just goes on and on, and films like this are excusing what is at its core uncivilised, counter productive behaviour which is crippling the black community. Just look at the crime stats if you don't believe me. These kids need help but this is not the way to go about it. How is this film about racism? There are no white people in it? reading these other reviews people are harping on about curing racism. How about stopping teenagers from murdering each other in cold blood?

Actually gave up on this when they returned to Samoa to hide out with Hobbs long lost family. Just beyond cringe worthy. I like Dwayne Johnson and Statham but this was just too much. The female lead Vanessa Kirkby does not seem to fit in well. She is attractive but not Hollywood attractive, she is very pale and skinny and looks like she weighs about 9st wringing wet. Of course she manages to fight multiple men at once which is just silly but normally I would allow for as film like this, but the whole bad girl attitiude constantly giving tough looks to the camera just got on my nerves real quick. There is no chemistry between her and Johnson either. She would look more at home on a ~British Drama≥ I think she was in MI4, again I just don't find her that attractive (she probably not that into me either!) and the sultry looks etc just did not work for me. Edris Elba was ok, the dialogue was trying too much and it got annoying, the whole Samoan thing was just beyond ridiculous and I turned over.
