I liked the movie, especially when it featured MIchael J. Fox's voice as Milo Thatch, James Garner as Commander Rourke, and Leonard Nimoy as the King of Atlantis. This movie is clearly NOT meant for kids, because there is some violence along with a lot of issues lost on kids, such as greed, arrogance, power, and hubris. Moreover, to appreciate this movie's themes, viewers really should prepare to understand the legend of Atlantis by reading lots of books.
Regarding the lack of songs in the movie, which may have led to its being a flop because no kids watched it, I say, "Who cares?" Not every Disney movie needs songs. It does need to tell a story, and that's the crux of this review. The movie has all the story elements: characters, setting, and plot, along with technology and a wondrous place called Atlantis.
Does this Atlantis resemble the one shown in the Aquaman movie? No. That Atlantis, while more beautiful, is also more treacherous because its king uses its advanced technology for conquest and terror rather than for peace.
