In my opinion, the writing held back what could have been a pretty cool show. The acting was decent across most of the actors, Sara Martin I think was particularly good and Iwan Rheon fit his role well, and it was cool seeing him play something different from what we all know him for. Overall the actors for the most part did the best they could off a pretty bad script.
The smaller scenes were well shot but the cgi on the big scenes was not up to the quality of the rest of the visuals. It would pull me out of the show each time they entered the racing arena, or when the lion was on the screen, particularly in the arena. I get that CGI is very difficult to get right but it was really just a cut below the quality of the rest of the production.
While the acting was pretty good and the visuals were solid outside the larger set scenes the writing was really not up to par. Some characters had cool concepts but the writing was so cheesy, you could see everything coming from a mile away, but most importantly characters were making poor and irrational decisions based on there goals in order to add drama but the drama never felt real because it was so irrationally produced. We didn't need a big "cliff hanger" at the end of every episode and trying to jam that much in totally took away from in particular the secondary characters archs because they would be so flip floppy.
Anyways cool idea, but was ultimately not that exciting because I was never really invested
