As a huge fan of the show and Meryl Streep I could not be more disappointed in the baffling decision to take out nearly all the moments of high stakes parent to child interactions. It’s a huge theme in the show that the adult characters all blame their parents for their failures and then abruptly become parents themselves and fail, and in that cycle forgive or become lost. None of that can take place when you remove the death of rapunzel and the song No More.
The sweeping cinematography cannot make up for truncating the show into a baffling amalgamation of no-stakes fairy tales and passionless performances especially from Meryl Streep from whom so much could be expected.
