The script tells us everything like a talking book. This we get wooden dialogue and little action. Two of the main characters are as wooden as the script. Unwatchable.

Terrible script and awkward performance from the lead character. The plot rambles all over the place and is an unoriginal mishmash of other better series. Some good supporting roles and a few laughs. Series is at least three episodes too long.

A darker Ripley. With a unique protagonist.

The most boring Hitman movie of all time. This guy gets around the world in daggy clothes tslikin to himself about staying focussed , showing no empathy, giving up no advantage etc. Like the most basic course in Hitman 101. One half decent fight scene .A lot of talented actors were wasted on this turkey

Not sure how accurate this movie is as a portrayal of Gerhard Richter’s life ...or even if it is attempting to be accurate. The depiction of the bureaucratic banality of evil in the Nazi regime is chilling . The films two young protagonists are a little too perfectly pretty and this distances them from appearing as ordinary suffering mortals. They spend too much time in choreographed tastefully lit sex scenes and not enough in meaningful dialogue. A good old fashioned well made romantic drama ....but the opportunity to say anything about art and life stalls at the “truth is beauty” of Keats Ode . And obviously when we look at the truth of the times, with the fire bombing of Dresden and the Nazi gas chambers, some truths are very far from beauty.

Do not expect a rollicking period comedy. There are elements of better scripts ....Dangerous Liasons, The Draughtsmans Contract, even Blackadder....in Lanthimo’s arch and selfcongratulatory presentation of the court of Queen Anne. But Olivia Coleman’s towering performance makes what could have been a laughable parody of a really significant reign human and sympathetic. Best to forget about history and try to enjoy the duck racing and sapphic romance. Oh , and when you see Rachel Weiss trousered up try not to think of Blackadder girl highwayman, “ Bob”.

Loved it. A bloody, subversive take on western and buddy movies.

I had high hopes after an opening shot that Welles would have been proud of ,but the disconnected and over long chase and action sequences, the jumps from one picturesque location to another and the total lack of any plot destroyed these expectations.The redeeming features of this soggy mess are the opening shot and a Bond for once sleeping with a woman older than himself.

It is to be commended for the risks it takes. An interesting, compelling, flawed movie.
