Young Royals completely encapsulates the viewer. This tv show is like a Swedish dead poets society, observing everyday boarding school life, that entirely focuses on the relations between the students. A touching and emotional story of the prince of Sweden; Young Royals is fascinating, exciting, and romantic. The plot is absolutely incredible, written to make the audience feel for every character, and creates a powerful social commentary on the difficulty of coming out. The main characters, Wilhem and Simon, are equally intriguing people as the viewer can see into what it is like to be a member of the royal family as well as the opposite; a member of a tight knit caring family in small town Sweden. Their coming of age story happens on a timeline that is out of their own control, as the actions of everyone else affect how each of them develops. Both of their character development transcends the expectations one might normally expect of a typical teenager in high school. Young Royals displays the hardships of each character so beautifully and then displays such heartwarming friendships. Finishing this show has brought so many different emotions, and the plot allows for the viewer to become completely attached to the characters. I can not wait for a second season, as this is easily one of the best shows I have watched in years!
